Pain is subjective and everyone experiences it differently.
Certain procedures such as lip augmentations can be painful, because that area is packed with sensitive nerve endings. 👄💉Thankfully there’s a couple different options for pain control.
The first is a topical BLT (benzocaine/lidocaine/tetracaine) local anesthetic (numbing cream). It is applied to the lips takes approximately 20-30 minutes to take effect. This method is not 100% effective and some people will still rate the pain around 5/10.
Another quicker and more effective technique is a dental block. Lidocaine is injected into the mental and infra orbital nerve (inside the mouth). This is my preferred methods because it works within 2 minutes. Clients are typically completely numb or will rate pain 1-2/10. With this type of analgesia, the numbness to the mouth may last a couple hours and some might have difficulty eating or drinking during that time.
